British Youth Riders Back on Track

A big weekend of British Youth Speedway is to take place in the North East over the weekend of the 15th and 16th September, where both Berwick and Newcastle are to host the British Youth Riders.

On Saturday 15th Berwick are to host riders from both the 500cc and 250cc who will compete in a round of the Youth Championship, the Newcastle will host the British 150cc Final the next day.

Youth Boss Neil Vatcher said, this is great news for the boys and girls competing in the Championship, and also great that the two North East tracks have invited us along.

We haven’t had a round since the 28th July, so all the guys are chomping at the bit to get back to competitive racing.

The Youth Round at Berwick will consist of 11 qualifying heats and a final for each class, with home favourite Leon Flint competing on the home town track and is sure to have the majority of the support from the Berwick faithful.

The next day at Newcastle, is a one off British Final for the riders who have supported the British Youth Championship this year, and this will be 8 riders competing over 8 qualifying heats plus a winner takes all final.

If Flint is to have the majority of the support at Berwick, then Newcastle Gem rider , 13 year old Archie Freeman is bound to be the backing of the Newcastle support.

Freeman who recently won the Northern Junior Riders Championship at Edinburgh, will be the red hot favourite to win his first British title, but 7 other riders which includes London based riders Sonny Springer and Aston Vale will have other ideas.

Young Lions would like to thank the promotions of both Berwick and Newcastle for hosting the finals.

More news will be released soon regards a date and venue of one more youth round, plus the 125cc final.
