23rd August 2016
On Saturday afternoon with a 2pm start time it is the last and final round of the 2016 Mitas British Youth Championship, being held at the South Tees Motorsport Park, the home of the Redcar Bears.
GB Youth Boss Neil Vatcher, “this has been an incredible series, and we have been so lucky this year to run such a fantastic series over eight rounds where as in previous years the series was run over six.”
Vatcher continued, “we have been to some amazing venues this season, of which many of the riders have visited tracks for the first time such as Belle Vue, Glasgow and King’s Lynn which has been really exciting for everyone including myself, I have loved every minute of it.
Even though in both the 500cc and 250cc the championship have been decided with both Kyle Bickley 500cc and Leon Flint 250cc clinching the titles only last weekend at Eastbourne, you can be sure there will still be plenty to race for across all four classes.
This is a great opportunity for the Redcar and North East speedway fans come out in support and see the first appearance of the two new British Champions, along with Dan Thompson who won the 125cc British Title just up the road at Berwick earlier last month, so a rare opportunity to witness three current British Champions competing in one meeting.
Also everyone coming along on Saturday will be keen to see in the 150cc class, if Nathan Ablitt will be able to complete an amazing record of remaining unbeaten in this entire series, as he has currently won all thirty five races that he has competed in, and if he goes through the meeting on Saturday unbeaten, surely that is a record that will never be beaten!
So plenty to look forward to, as there will be 37 riders competing in over a total of 41 heats, that will be run in about three hours.”
Young Lions Management would like to thank all their series sponsors for their support in 2016 –
Mitas Tyres, Wessex Marine, Friends of Speedway, Nuneaton Speedway Supporters Club, Meridian Lifts, Speedway Nut, PBHS of Barnsley, Rentruck of Rochdale, Duck Smart, Association of Referees, Trend Creative, KanDysoft Solutions and also the BSPA for their continued support of British Youth Speedway.
