1st February 2018
On Saturday evening the Nuneaton Speedway Supporters Club hosted the 2nd staging of the Celebration of British Speedway Awards Evening, which was organized by Young Lions boss Neil Vatcher.
Vatcher was delighted with the success of the evening, which was based on celebrating all the positives that came out of British Speedway in 2017, and also to carry on the success in 2018.
An emotional Vatcher started the evening off congratulating all involved who participated in the 2017 season at both Under 21 and Youth level in a season where in every competition that Great Britain entered at Junior level, they had at least one representative in every final, a feat that Vatcher doubted had ever been achieved before.
Four British Champions were in attendance with the British Under 21 and two times European Champion Robert Lambert the special guest, along with Youth Champions Drew Kemp, Leon Flint and Sam McGurk.
Vatcher said, “we try and better the previous seasons events every year, and last years Celebration of British Speedway was a great event, but this year was even bigger and better.
Many different people made it such a special evening including all the British Youth Riders who attended with their Mums and Dads, Robert was the star of the show, and spoke superbly to the listening audience, and it is hard to believe he is still only 19 years old.
Natalie Bromley did a great job comparing the evening, and also Andy Hague from Speedway Portal, was in attendance.”
As well as all the riders getting awards, the Nuneaton Speedway Supporters Club and Mr Tony Watson who is the editor of The Last Lap book which is a summary of the last season at Brandon made a considered contribution to the Young Lions for the 2018 season.
