8th April 2017
On Sunday we see the start of the 2017 British Youth Championship, as the riders from both 500cc and 250cc compete in a double header at The East of England Showground, as the Championship takes place after Peterborough’s fixture with Redcar.
Youth Boss Neil Vatcher said, “Sunday is the first of an exciting 3 events in 9 days at Peterborough, and I know that all the riders who are competing this Sunday cannot wait.
These 2 classes are the British Championship, so a national title is at stake.
In the 500cc we have Buxton’s Carl Basford, Drew Kemp who is stepping up from competing in the 250cc last year, and also Elliot Bloxsome who is the son of the former rider Keith who rode for King’s Lynn and Newcastle back in the 70s and 80s.
The most exciting class this year will be the 250cc and there will be 12 riders competing this week, with the reigning British Champion Leon Flint, 2016 runner up Jason Edwards, and also the current 2016 125cc and 150cc British Champions Dan Thompson and Nathan Ablitt respectively.
So all to play for this Sunday afternoon”.
