Gilkes set for European U19 Qualifier

Great Britain’s Daniel Gilkes is preparing for the biggest weekend of his short career as he prepares to travel to Nagyhalasz in Hungary to compete in the 1st qualifying round of the 2021 FIM European Under 19 Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Gilkes, who was runner up in the 2020 British Under 19 Championship, rides in Europe for the first time and due to Kent’s fixture with Leicester being postponed on Tuesday evening, this will also be his first competitive rides of the 2021 season.

British Youth boss Neil Vatcher commented “Since the British Under 19 Final last September Dan has been chomping at the bit to have the opportunity to compete in Europe and although this is his first competitive rides of 2021, he has had plenty of track time thanks to the GB Academy and I know that he is ready for his biggest challenge to date.”

Gilkes who has been drawn to ride at number 16, will be aiming for a top 5 finish, and qualify for the European Final which will take place in Riga Latvia on the 7th August
