FIM Under 23 European Team Final
Following the success of the Great Britain Under 23 Team in Pardubice in the Czech Republic last weekend, joint GB boss Neil Vatcher is urging British supporters making plans to attend this year’s final grand prix at Torun in October to extend their weekend by an extra day and attend the FIM European Under 23 Final which is planned to take place the day after the Torun SGP also in Poland and support the British Team in a European Final.
Vatcher commented” Our win in Pardubice on Saturday cannot be underestimated, as the home nation, the Czech Republic, have 3 riders in their 5 man squad, who have already qualified for this year’s FIM World Under 21 SGP 2 Series. They were undoubtedly the favourites before the event as in this year’s competition, especially as it was only the winners that qualified for the final.
Pardubice historically has been such a tough place for British riders to find the right set up, as whilst it is a big fast European style track almost 400 metres so fast equipment is always needed, it does however often run as a slick track, therefore too much power and the bikes just spin and don’t go forward.
We at the GB management were delighted with our boys’ determination and effort on Saturday, Dan Bewley led by example and now is a genuine World Class rider.
Tom Brennan has stepped up to another level, competing at the very best level of World Junior Speedway as well as the top Leagues in both Britain and Poland.
Drew Kemp and Jordan Palin both exceeded expectations on Saturday, as this event was an Under 23 event so another level on from competing at Under 21s.
The final of this competition is currently scheduled to take in Krakow on Sunday 2nd October although the venue is still to be confirmed, it would be good for British supporters if the venue was either Bydgoscz or Gdansk as this is the airports where the majority of fans would be flying into to attend the Torun SGP on the day before.
It would be fantastic to see British Fans at this final supporting the British team in Poland waving their Union Jack flags, and give the team a big boost.”
