3rd August 2017
After a 3 week break the 2017 British Youth Championship returns on Saturday night at the National Speedway Stadium in Manchester.
The home of the Belle Vue Aces will be hosting Round 6 of this years very competitive Championship and it is not just the British Youth Riders on show this weekend as there will be demonstration races from the British Sidecars, Formula 2 Speedway Bikes and the Men in Black.
As the Youth Championship enters the last couple of rounds it is the time of the season now where there can be no slip ups, and in the 500cc class the race for the title has reached boiling point with the 2 front runners of Daniel Gilkes and Drew Kemp just separated by 2 points.
With both Gilkes and Kemp chasing valuable Championship Points, there chase for a British Title has been made a lot harder this Saturday with the late addition of 15 year old British Sensation and Belle Vue Colt star Kyle Bickley added to the line up.
Bickley who is the reigning British Youth 500cc Champion and came 3rd in the British Under 19 Championship only last month was hoping to be competing at Berwick on Saturday in their Stars of Tomorrow event, but unfortunately due to his tender years the licence that Bickley races on does not allow him to compete against senior International Riders at this stage of his career, but Berwick’s loss is most certainly Belle Vue’s gain.
Again the 250cc class looks wide open for the end of season rostrum places, and Leon Flint will be hoping to continue his winning streak of 4 wins out of the last 5 and keep hold of his 250cc British Title before moving up a class to the 500s for the 2018 season.
In the 125cc support class there will be a number of familiar names to the Belle Vue regulars who compete in 2nd half events, such as the McGurk Brothers Sam and Harry, Jordan Palin and Luke Harrison to name but a few.
The Young Lions Management would like to thank all their series sponsors for their continued support and also the Belle Vue Management for hosting Round 6.
The meeting starts at 6pm and the 3 finals of the Youth Championship are being sponsored by long time Belle Vue supporter Brian Schofield of which we would like to show our appreciation.
