2nd August 2018
Young Lions boss Neil Vatcher is delighted that the Isle of Wight have asked for a full scale 15 heat challenge fixture versus a Young Lions Team to be held on the Island on the 21st August.
Vatcher said, these full scale fixtures are great opportunities for the Young British riders to ride as a team representing the Young Lions and these opportunities do not come along often so when they do, it is an occasion we all look forward to.
The Team has been built of all riders that are Under 19, Vatcher said for all these riders they are just starting out in their careers, and I hope that in the next year or two that some of these riders will be riding for the full British Team in World Cups, so as I say to get these opportunities so early in their career is priceless.
We ran two of these fixtures last year at Mildenhall and the Isle of Wight, and on both occasions they were real entertaining events.
Joe Lawlor will Captain the very young side, with 15 year olds Leon Flint and Jason Edwards making their Young Lions debuts. Also included will be Taylor Hampshire, Ben Woodhull, Alex Spooner and Joe Alcock.
Vatcher has stated that if any National League clubs are looking for a fixture filler as we head towards the latter part of the season, to get in contact and give the Young Lions more experience of Test Match experience.
