Buckle heads to Malilla
The FIM SGP Academy hold their second Academy of 2025 later this week at the Swedish venue of Malilla, ahead of this weekend’s SGP and SGP2 fixtures,
Following on from the initial Academy in January which was held in Gillman, Australia, eighteen riders from 8 different countries have applied to take part, including 12 year old British Youth rider Fraser Buckle.
The camp will be hosted by 6 times World Speedway Champion Tony Rickardsson, assisted by four-time World Champion Greg Hancock and former World Cup winner Sweden’s Linus Sundström.
The camp aims to provide the riders and their families with advice on many aspects of the sport including starting and riding techniques, bike preparation, medi, social media and sponsorship, sporting and anti-doping regulations, fitness and health.
Buckle, who is based near Oxford, will be joined by Karl Hancock, the youngest son of Greg Hancock, will be representing the USA, along with 5 riders from the host nation Sweden, 2 from Romania and 1 each from Denmark, Finland and the Netherlands.

“I am excited and really looking forward to the camp. This is my first year in speedway and of course I have a lot to learn, so by going to the SGP Academy and having such amazing ex-riders as coaches, is going to be a great experience for me.”
