Report

If the first two meetings of the 2016 season are anything to go by then the Young Lions are in for an exciting season.

Having had six races at both the Ben Fund at Kings Lynn on Saturday and six races at Ulrich Ostergaard testimonial at Peterborough on Sunday, the only way to describe the races in one word is “WOW”.

The 500cc class this year looks like it is going to be the class of 2016, with a host of riders coming up from the 2015’s 250s, it is any ones guess who will end up the 2016 500cc British Youth Champion.

Even though we are biased, the Youth racing at both events were certainly as good if not better than the seniors, and all credit to all the riders that competed in both events.

If any Youth supporters think that the 500cc series will be between just a couple of riders, then by the evidence of this weekends demonstration races they couldn’t be further from the truth, as all nine riders look right on the pace.

Some real special performances this weekend, and a special mention must go to 14 year old Jordan Jenkins who won both his races at Kings Lynn on his debut riding a 500cc.

Kyle Bickley was back to best form at Peterborough on Sunday, after a arm injury hampered his score on Saturday, winning both his heats on Sunday.

Sam Bebee and Kean Dicken also had some impressive heat wins over the two days.

In the 125cc class again four great races over the two days, and credit to all the seven riders who competed.

Our thanks to Paul Ackroyd the Ben Fund Organiser and Ulrich Ostergaard for allowing us to showcase the British Youth and we now look forward to attending Chris Harris’s testimonial next Sunday the 20th March.
