Another weekend of Youth Speedway demonstration races, with both big meetings of the weekend hosting the British Youth Riders, at the Elite Riders Leicester on Saturday, and at Ricky’s Big Day at Sheffield on Sunday.
The 125cc class was at both events, but with 8 different riders across the 2 venues.
At Leicester on Saturday 2 races were held with Leicester mascots Joe and Dan Thompson, along with Sam Stead and Jordan Palin.
In heat 1 the home track knowledge shone through with both the Thompson’s taking a sizeable lead over Stead and Palin, eventually with Joe winning with a very fast time.
Once returning to the pits, both Stead and Palin made adjustments to their set ups and that was proven in the 2nd heat, as Stead flew from the start, and Palin holding off Dan Thompson for 3 laps.
On entering the 3rd Lap Joe was chasing the race leader Stead and clipped his wheel which threw Joe to the ground with a nasty knock to his thumb.
The race was stopped and the referee awarded the 2nd and final heat.
