British Youth Championship Scunthorpe (500cc & 125cc)

The British Youth Championship moves onto Scunthorpe tonight for the 500cc and 125cc classes in a 2nd half event following the Scorpions Cab Direct Championship fixture against The Edinburgh Monarchs.

It’s a big night especially for the 125cc class, which will see a new British 125cc Champion crowned, as this will be the last round of their 7 round series.

Both Oliver Bovingdon and Archie Rolph are currently tied on 100 points, but with each rider dropping their worst score, Bovingdon is 2 points ahead, so if Rolph and Bovingdon both make tonight’s final and Rolph finishes one place in front of Bovingdon, a runoff will be needed for the British Title, although as we have seen on many occasions before, anything can happen!

After tonight’s 6th round for the 500cc class, Ashton Boughen will be hoping to all but seal the British Championship, as if he wins tonight, he will effectively just need to compete at the 7th round at Belle Vue in two week’s time to win the title.

Jody Scott and Sonny Springer both still have an outside chance of winning the 500cc championship and will do all they can to achieve this, for as long as it is mathematically possible.

The Young Lions would like to thank the Scunthorpe Promotion and their series sponsors for their continued support of British Youth Speedway.
