19th August 2017
Glasgow host the penultimate round of the 2017 British Youth Championship on Saturday evening at a 7pm start.
After yet another great series and with still one round to go after Glasgow, which will be at Leicester in September, both the British Titles can be decided at the Scottish venue at Round 7.
In the 500cc class unfortunately series leader Daniel Gilkes will be missing his second round due to being on a family holiday, after already missing Redcar due to a speedway injury. Drew Kemp can clinch the British Title by just competing in the first heat due to the small numbers that are competing in the 500cc class.
If Kemp clinches the British Title, anyone who has witnessed this years series would have seen another star in the making, although it is harsh on Gilkes that he is missing a second round.
The 250cc British Title will be clinched by the reigning British Champion Leon Flint providing that he scores enough points to come in at least 5th place.
Flint will certainly be aiming higher than 5th though, as in the previous 6 rounds Flint has won 5 of them and was runner up in the only round that he hasn’t stood on top of the rostrum.
The 250cc class will certainly be exciting because if Flint was to have a nightmare evening, then the likes of Jason Edwards, Nathan Ablitt, Jordan Palin, and the Thompson Twins Dan and Joe will be ready to pounce.
As well as the British Titles, there is still plenty to race for, as there are still rostrum places to ride for in both the 500cc and 250cc.
There is a large turnout of 125cc riders in the support class as well with a number of riders in this class who will be aiming to make the final.
Last years round at Glasgow was one of the most exciting evenings of 2016, so the Young Lions are hoping for a large turnout of Scottish Supporters to come out and back the Brits.
