In the light of Zach Wajknecht and Jack Thomas both taking a break from the sport, the Young Lions Management have added both Anders Rowe and Henry Atkins to the GB Under 21 Squad.
Neil Vatcher said, it is massively disappointing that both Zach and Jack have decided to take a break from the sport, in what is such a crucial time of the season, and with the FIM Under 21 World Team Cup Final only 3 weeks away it has not been the ideal preparation as both Zach and Jack would have been involved in the GB Team.
Hopefully once Zach and Jack take a break from the sport, both boys can come back stronger later in the season, as we certainly do not want to lose these 2 talents to the sport.
As well as not having Zach and Jack available and with Tom Brennan having a serious injury, it is only right to add to the GB Squad, with more events coming up as the season progresses.
Vatcher said, I watch all the boys results, and in fairness to both Rowe and Atkins, even without losing Wajknecht, Thomas and Brennan, both boys deserve their call up, as they have impressed me especially in recent weeks.
Rowe in particular has been scoring big points for Kent in the NDL and his Championship form for Somerset has also been impressive of late.
Atkins is one that I have considered for a while, and now with him getting more rides as he is now riding for Mildenhall in the NDL as well as Somerset in the Championship, and recently recovered from a shoulder injury, I will be keen to see him progress as we come in to the 2nd half of the season.
So the current GB Under 21 is as follows -Robert Lambert, Dan Bewley, Tom Brennan, Drew Kemp, Kyle Bickley, Leon Flint, Nathan Greaves, Jack Smith, Anders Rowe, Henry Atkins and Jason Edwards.
